It is the intention of the new owner of Falls
Retreat, Dr Mary E. White, to develop the educational potential of the
property so that it becomes a Centre for Environmental Education.
 |
The Pristine Rainforest
|
The wonderful natural forests have been covenanted, providing a safe
haven for the richly diverse local fauna and flora.
Experiencing the
secluded gullies with their precious remnant Gondwanan rainforest, their
birds, insects and other animal residents and the vast array of plant
species, is an education in itself.
Knowing that when the direct ancestors of these forests were alive the
Australian continent was close to the South Pole and part of an immense
southern Supercontinent provides a new perspective.
Click here for information on books by
Dr. Mary E. White and offer of lectures on subjects in school and college
curricula for groups using the Centre for educational purposes.

Opportunities exist for involvement in research on the property. Rare
and endangered frogs and plant species are already known to be present.
Forest fungi, invertebrates and epiphytes provide fascinating subjects
for on-going monitoring and investigation. New species are waiting to be
discovered and described.
Groups of College and University students could find
suitable subjects for projects or a thesis in our forests and river.
